Good Friendship, Food & Wine

Meal of the Month is an exclusive club of 6 fine chefs from the prairie horizon of Winnipeg, Manitoba who get together once a month to experience a multi-course gourmet meal.  One member will host the event and act as the chef for the evening, while the remaining members each bring 2 bottles of wine.

As family, work and life continue to pass us by at unbelievable speeds, it’s great to take a pause once each month to remain connected to the friendships that matter most.

One of the very nicest things about life is the was we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.

- Luciano Pavarotti

How did Meal of the Month start?

6 friends gathered one evening for dinner, hosted and prepared by one of them.  The host asked the guests to bring wine.  The evening was so great they all agreed to do this every month.  Thus was Meal of the Month born.

How many members are there?

There are always 6 members in Meal of the Month.  The Chef may invite as many guests as he would like.

Are there rules that govern Meal of the Month?

Yes, there is an agreed-upon set of rules and regulations called the MOTM ByLaws.  It is a binding social contract, much like the Charter of Rights and Freedoms or the US Constitution.

Why is there an anniversary meal?

On the 10th Anniversary of MOTM, the brothers decided that once a year they would have a chef cook for all the members, that way everyone can share in the food and conversation equally.  It also staggers the dates of the meals so the chefs are not always cooking the same months every year.  It is also when we schedule the dates for the following year.  The anniversary meal is always in September, unless a scheduling issue arises or the opportunity for a road trip presents itself.

Has anyone left Meal of the Month?

Yes, there have been several brethren who have weakened and abandoned their brothers.  These members are considered dishonourably discharged and are refereed to as “he who shall not be named.”  Please do not ask any more as this is a painful subject.
